Help us help others
So far your generous support has seen on average 50kg of food donated to those in need at each home game.
Peckham Foodbank has fed over 1,000 people since April 2012 and has seen a sharp increase in the number of families turning to them for help since last summer.
Tonught, as with every other home game this season, the Peckham Foodbank will again be collecting by the Blue Bus before kick-off. "At our food banks we're shocked by the stories," said Chris Mould, Executive Chairman of the Trussell Trust. "We're moved by their determination to fix it themselves. That's why so many have been going regularly without meals by the time they reach a food bank.
Making ends meet is a precarious business for those on low incomes. It only takes an unexpected bill or rise in the cost of food to push people over the edge...all sorts of people.
Food banks help people who've lost their jobs, single parents, business owners whose customers aren't paying on time and families where two jobs aren't enough."Items currently needed include tinned meat, UHT milk, sugar, fruit juice (cartons), soup, pasta sauces, sponge pudding (tinned), tomatoes (tinned), cereals, rice pudding (tinned), tea bags/instant coffee, instant mash potato, rice, vegetables (tinned), fruit (tinned), biscuits or snack bars. Items not needed at the moment are baked beans and pasta.
