International duo can head for the beachDavid Forde and Andy Keogh can now look forward to some long awaited rest and recuperation after completing their summer international duties with the Republic of Ireland who lost a friendly against World Champions Spain 2-0 at Yankee Stadium in New York last night.
Both Lions stars were in action until the 73rd minute when they were substituted, Forde having been beaten just once by the opening goal from Roberto Soldado. Millwall's number one has enjoyed an excellent run for Giovanni Trapattoni's side since the end of the domestic campaign, putting in a quality display in the 1-1 friendly draw with England at Wembley before keeping a clean sheet in the vital World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands in Dublin (3-0).
Keogh played a part in Ireland's other friendly fixture, the 4-0 win over Georgia.
With the rest of the Millwall squad having had an additional five week's holiday in comparison to the Irish duo, Forde and Keogh will rejoin pre-season some time in July, significantly after Steve Lomas' men report for duty on 27th June.
