Football and Educational programmes at the Millwall Community Scheme

Millwall Community Scheme and Sports Coaching Limited (SCL) are offering an exciting football and educational opportunity for aspiring footballers between 16-18 years to gain a Level 2/3 Diploma in Sport and other sports related coaching qualifications.
The Development Academy is a two-year, full-time Education and Football Development programme delivered in partnership with Millwall Community Trust.

During the course students will have the opportunity to be coached by UEFA “A” and “B” licensed coaches and play competitive games in the British Colleges Sports League.

Training will focus on the development of individual technical, tactical and physical attributes - the Academy’s aim to effectively support the development of each player by providing them with a learning environment that holistically supports their development and allows them to maximise their potential and maintain their involvement in the game at the highest level possible.

The educational aspect of the programme is as equally important and applicants to the academy must demonstrate a commitment to continuing their education as well as showing a passion for football development.

The Development Academy offers a unique opportunity for players to train and study in an environment that will develop their academic and sporting performance.

The Academy will be based at Millwall Community Scheme, Lions Centre, Bolina Road, SE16 - here players will benefit from an excellent range of training facilities and a dedicated classroom for academic studies.

Over the two-year duration, players will study a variety of Nationally Recognised Qualifications within the subject of Sport, Coaching & Fitness.

Players will study the Diploma in Sport, delivered at Level 2 and 3 standard (A-Level equivalence), FA Coaching Qualifications together with core skills in Maths and English.

Successful completion of the educational programme will enable players to follow pathways into Higher Education at selected Universities and employment opportunities within the sport and leisure industry, including coaching placements and playing scholarships in America.
