Wardy signs off from The Lions
Lions defender Darren Ward has signed for Swindon Town on a permanent basis following a successful loan spell at the County Ground.
Wardy, 34, initially joined Paolo Di Canio’s League One high-flyers in August and has gone on to make 19 appearances and scored one goal for The Robins.
His move brings the curtain down on a career at The Den that, over two spells with the club, saw Wardy feature in a Championship Play-Off semi-final, an FA Cup Final, the club's UEFA Cup adventure in 2004 and the Wembley winning Play-Off Final in 2010.
Wardy's last full season for The Lions in 2011/12 campaign saw the popular centre half reach the 250-game mark for Millwall as he appeared in just under 50 per cent of the matches played.
The arrival of Shane Lowry from Aston Villa saw Darren's first team outings restricted thereafter, but he was always dependable when called into action.
Wardy made two appearances for The Lions this season, scoring in the Capital One Cup game against Crawley and then featuring in the Championship-opener against Blackpool.
Everyone at Millwall FC would like to thank Darren for his fantastic service and wish him the very best for the future.
