Lions fans praised for great generosity
Andy 'Gibbo' Gibbs has said a huge 'Thank you' to Lions fans after a bucket collection at Saturday's FA Cup tie against Preston North End saw a whopping £1,622 donated to Help 4 Heroes, a charity close to the hearts of many at Millwall FC.
Gibbo (HMS Collingwood) and James 'JC' Cameron-Wood (NATO Northwood) are Royal Navy Chief Petty Officers, who along with colleagues Penny Harris, Ricky Rodriguez and Ray Charles have been undertaking various activities to raise £200,000 for H4H.
This coming March they will be treking 172 miles from Twickenham to Cardiff with the matchball for the Wales v England six nations rugby fixture.
But on a rare Saturday off from their fund-raising schedule, the quintet were at The Den last weekend, as Gibbo explains: "We were invited down by Millwall for the Preston game and, following our collection, the generosity of Millwall fans helped raise £1,622 for H4H, which supports our wounded servicemen and women.
We would like to say a big 'Thank you' to Millwall for the excellent way we were looked after, by far the best we have received over the last three years."
