Defender Danny hails Cup victory
Stand-in skipper Danny Shittu could hardly hide his delight as The Lions booked their place in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup after John Marquis' late strike was enough to secure a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.
Danny cancelled out Darren Bent's opener with a towering header from a James Henry corner; his first ever Millwall goal.
"This is the first time the manager has told me to go up for every set piece," an elated Danny said. "It was nice to be back up there again because normally I'm on the halfway line. I'm happy to have got the goal."
The captain lined up alongside Karleigh Osborne for the first time in central defence, with regular partner Mark Beevers featuring at left-back, and Danny had nothing but praise for the impressive Osborne's performance.
"It was amazing. When you haven't played for a while you could look fatigued but he came in and fitted in really well. To come back after a long time against a Premier League side must've been nerve-wracking and it's not just as a back two, but as a back four we helped each other and did well."
The win sees the club into Sunday's Fifth Round draw, but Danny isn't too fussed with who the side get.
"I don't mind who we have as long as we have them at The Den. Whatever team comes here will find it very hard. I found it tough to come and play with a team here and these fans really do get on other teams' backs. If it's at The Den we'll have a really good chance of getting through."
