Young Lions bow out of FA Youth Cup
A brace from Norwich City defender Harry Toffolo sent the Canaries through to the FA Youth Cup Fifth Round with a narrow 2-1 win against Millwall at Carrow Road.
Toffolo headed the home side ahead on 28 minutes following a corner form Neil Adams only for Jason Twum to level for The Lions on the stroke of half-time with a super shot-on-the-turn.
But Toffolo's textbook header on the hour mark put Norwich back in front and although Conor Wilkinson went close 10 minutes from time with a shot that flew narrowly wide, Norwich held on to book their place in the Fifth Round.
"It wasn't a great game to be honest," said Lions Academy Director Scott Fitzgerald.
"I think nerves definitely played a part and there weren't too many scoring chances for either team.
Neither team created that much, but you couldn't fault the effort. Our lads put in a hard-working performance, but maybe needed just a touch more composure and quality."
Despite missing a trio of key players - skipper Max Fitzgerald, striker Charlie Penney and right-back Danny Newman, who withdrew a couple of hours before kick-off - Fitzgerald refused to be downbeat.
"It was a good experience for those players selected, playing at a Premier League ground," he added. "Although we didn't attack and open up teams as we have done in the League, they will learn from this, as disappointing as they may feel getting on the coach now."
