Lions land Afobe
Arsenal striker Benik Afobe is set to sign tomorrow for Millwall on a youth loan until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old, who was previously on loan at Bolton Wanderers, will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s match against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road, and Kenny Jackett is delighted to have got his man.
"Benik is the type of player who can play close to the centre-halves and play one-twos with those around him," he said.
"If we can get him in the right system and playing on a regular basis he’ll be a superb addition for us."
England U21 international Benik has worked his way up through the ranks at The Emirates but his first experience of League football came at Huddersfield Town, then in League One, during the 2010/11 season where he scored eight goals in 35 games.
The 2011/12 season was a less productive one for the striker as he missed nearly six months of the campaign through injury before a short loan stint with Reading where he made three appearances before moving to the Reebok Stadium in August.
Benik has scored twice for The Trotters.
