Young Lions beaten

2 December 2013

Brighton & H.A. U21s 3 Millwall U21s 1

Neil Harris' young Lions went down 3-1 against their Brighton counterparts at Lancing on Monday night.

The visitors grabbed the lead on the quarter hour as Jack Powell’s corner was met by Tom Bender who fired home first time from close range.

Adam Chicksen levelled for Albion. Solly March’s determined run created the space before teeing up the left-back, who took one touch and unleashed an unstoppable effort past Denzel Gerrar.

The home side went in front when Gerrar failed to deal with Robin Deen’s cross, Brennan Dickenson smashed home the loose ball to make it 2-1.

Albion soon extended their lead when Jordan Maguire-Drew latched onto a wayward defensive pass and calmly slotted past Gerrar.

Ben Thompson’s dipping long-range effort was the closest Chopper's men came to reducing the arrears as a battling display was undermined by a couple of defensive errors.

Millwall: Gerrar, Siafa, Bender, Powell, Woods, De Havilland, Thompson, Danquah, Pavey, Onyedinma, Penny. Subs: Phillpott, Beadle, Farrell, Twardek.
