Lions stars back hospital choir bid and hand out gifts

Fresh from Saturday's vital 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic, Lions stars paid their annual pre-Christmas visit to the children's wards at Lewisham Hospital on Monday afternoon, and found themselves in the midst of a media frenzy.

BBC and ITV camera crews were in attendance along with photographers and journalists, but on this occasion it was not Millwall taking centre stage.

It so happened that the LG NHS choir, who reached the final of the previous series of the BBC 'Sing While You Work' show with Gareth Malone, were launching their Christmas single 'Bridge Over You' which is widely tipped to reach the top ten in the Festive charts and can be purchased for just 99p on iTunes here

The Lions' renowned music experts Paul Robinson and Alan Dunne gave ITV the benefit of their opinion after listening to the choir in full voice, and the Millwall players posed with the singers (and Zampa the Lion) for some publicity shots before visiting the children on the wards.

Robbo and Dunney were accompanied by Scott McDonald, Liam Feeney, Richard Chaplow, Shane Lowry, Andy Keogh, Tom Bender and Fred Onyedinma as they gave out gifts to youngsters on the children's unit which would have been closed under government plans, until the recent historic court rulings found in the Hospital's favour.

Millwall along with the club's players and fans played an active part in that campaign, and hopefully can now look forward to these annual visits continuing for many years to come.
