Robbo's rallying cry

27 December 2013

Championship survival a must

Paul Robinson insists that the players have got to knuckle down and get on with the job of steering Millwall away from the Championship relegation zone.

The Boxing Day dismissal of manager Steve Lomas came shortly after a 10-man Millwall side had crashed to a 4-0 defeat at Watford - The Lions seventh away loss of the campaign.

The defeat saw Millwall slip to 20th in the table, just one point ahead of Sunday's opponents Doncaster Rovers.

With caretaker managers Neil Harris and Scott Fitzgerald at the helm temporarily, and that trip to Doncaster just 48 hours away, skipper Robbo pulled no punches when he said: "The results we've produced have led to Steve's dismissal, which is disappointing.

Now we have to get behind Chopper and Scott (Fitzgerald) and give them our best efforts. The lads have great respect for them and I'm sure we will all be doing our level best over the next couple of games whilst they are in charge.

This is one of the best squads at Millwall since I've been here and we have to start living up to that. We have to make sure we stay in the Championship."
