Parents of Jimmy appointed MBEs
Barry and Margaret Mizen, parents of Lions fan Jimmy who was tragically murdered in 2008, have been appointed MBEs for their services to young people in recognition of the work they have done with the foundation set up in Jimmy's name.
Since they lost Jimmy, then aged just 16, Barry and Margaret have set about doing all they can to increase young people's awareness of the consequences of serious street crime, working with them to ensure they can manage anger without resorting to violence as well as helping youngsters to develop their skills and capabilities for employment.
Since 2008 Millwall have worked closely with the Jimmy Mizen Foundation and our Community Trust has also engaged scores of young people in anti-knife and gun crime initiatives. Back in September the lives of Jimmy and Charlton supporter Rob Knox were once again remembered ahead of the meeting between the two clubs at The Valley.
Everybody at Millwall Football Club would like to congratulate Barry, Margaret and the rest of the Mizen family for their honours.
