Forde injury update

7 August 2013

Latest on keeper and Trotts

Whilst Steve Lomas was guiding Millwall to their first win of the season against AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night, keeper David Forde was undergoing surgery on a knee injury sustained during Saturday's season-opener against Yeovil Town.

Lions physio Bobby Bacic confirmed: "David Forde underwent surgery late last night on his left knee. The surgery involved trimming damaged cartilage that had torn on the inside of the knee. The surgery was different to Liam Trottter's as he had surgery to the outside of his knee. David is already on his feet with the help of crutches and will be at the training ground tomorrow to start his early stage treatment.

David was very grateful to the Surgeon for operating so quickly, he was, however, less grateful to some of his team-mates who were messaging him about what treats they were eating whilst Dave was undergoing 12 hours of fasting before his operation.

The plan for David will be to reduce the swelling and avoid infection in the early stages of treatment before we start his light-loading. We hope to have him back in action next month and we will update as he progresses.

In the meantime Liam Trotter is progressing well and it looks likely he will rejoin the main training group next week if he comes through this week's rehab without any problems."
