Double delight

23 August 2013

Chopper pleased with week's work

Neil Harris is hoping The Lions can round off an encouraging week by getting their first Championship points on the board at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

On Friday afternoon, his Under 21 side recorded their second consecutive Development League victory against Premier League opposition when first half goals from Liam Trotter and Charlie Penny were enough to give them a 2-1 win over Swansea City, following Tuesday night's success against Palace by the same scoreline.

He said: "It's important for the boys to develop winning mentality.

I've been pleased with the way we've played against two Premier League clubs.

On Tuesday we had our backs to the wall for long periods, defended well and counter attacked when the opportunity presented itself. Against Swansea we were superb for the first half hour and could have been five up during that period.

Some of the lads who played in both games began to tire in the second half today, but overall I was very pleased.

It was good to see Trotts back in action for an hour and we'll benefit from having him in the first team squad before too long.

At the other end of the spectrum, young Alfie Pavey, who came out of non-league last year, holds the ball up well, has an eye for goal and reminds me of a young Paul Moody.

We finished the game with three 16-year-olds on the pitch, and this is a great learning experience for these lads."
