New chapter for Millwall Lionesses
Following their application to join the FA Women's Super League 2 Millwall Lionesses have received confirmation that they have been successful in securing a place - the only south London club to do so.
Millwall Lionesses FC Manager Alberto Kurti said: "We are thrilled by the decision. This symbolises a new chapter for the club and we are beyond excited. I'd like to thank everyone involved in putting our bid together for their hard work and dedication to the club.
The process is now subject to The FA WSL project team working with clubs to finalise the terms and conditions of the agreements.
Special thanks must go to Andy Ambler and everyone at Millwall Football Club for their support with the application."
Other clubs making the cut for the new WSL 2 are: Aston Villa Ladies FC, Doncaster Rovers Belles Ladies FC, Durham Women's FC, London Bees Women's FC (Barnet FC), Millwall Lionesses FC, Oxford United Women's FC, Reading Women’s FC, Sunderland Women's FC, Watford Ladies FC, Yeovil Town Ladies FC.
Representatives from the Millwall Lionesses will be holding a bucket collection in the main car park prior to kick-off this evening - and they will be back at The Den on Thursday 9th May (7.45pm) to play Reading Ladies in the last game of the season.
Please come down to support the girls in what could be the title decider. Tickets will be available on the night priced at £3.
