Opportunity knocks

9 April 2013

We want to secure Championship status sooner rather than later

Kenny Jackett hopes that his side take the opportunity of widening the gap betweeen themselves and the bottom three by beating Sheffield Wednesday at The Den.
The Lions go into action against The Owls on the back of a six-match unbeaten run, whilst Dave Jones' Yorkshire outfit have taken seven points from their last three games and are enjoying a decent run of form too.
Although there is an FA Cup Semi Final against Wigan Athletic looking large on the horizon, Jackett is fully focused first and foremost on increasing the points cushion at the bottom of the table.
"It's a great opportunity for us and one that we have to take" he said.
"We have two games in hand on some sides and want to secure our Championship status sooner rather than later.
We are on a good unbeaten run and want to keep that going and also be able to carry the momentum into Saturday's game against Wigan.
I don't think we've done enough at home and we need to do better. Five of our last seven games are at home and that is a great opportunity for us so we need to make sure we take it."
