International Lions!

12 April 2013

Backing the boys in blue

We are aware that there will be a number of Lions fans all over the world who may not be able to get to the FA Cup Semi Final at Wembley on Saturday, but will be willing Kenny and the boys on from wherever they are, tuning in to Lions Player, checking on the internet or watching the game live on ESPN.
One such person is Millwall supporter Lee Manze, who will be backing the boys in blue some 3,500 miles in Afghanistan.
Lee got in touch with us to send a Good Luck message to Kenny Jackett and the team, saying: "I'm writing from Camp Bastion Afghanistan serving with 663 Squadron Army air core.
I'm three months into my tour now and due home in June. I'm a huge Millwall supporter and I've been following the club as much as I can whilst I'm out here.
I will be watching on Saturday in the Semi Final and want to wish Kenny and the boys all the very best on the day. Come on Millwall!"
Cpl Wayne O'Connor, also posted in Afghanistan at Theatre Provost Company, Op Herrick, sent this message: "I just wanted to say good luck to Millwall in the FA Cup Semis against Wigan. I can't believe I am unable to attend due to me being out on Operation again in Afghanistan, but I really hope we can make the Final and hey maybe go all the way and win the Cup!"
Phil O'Hare sent us the following: "What a dilemma the semi final has brought to me - working here in New York and being a lifelong Millwall fan - the question was - should I fly home for the Semi and get the day at Wembley and savour the moment? The dilemma was - what happens if we win - I can't go back to NYK and then fly back again for the final - time doesn't permit me let alone the financial strain that brings.
I opted to watch the Semi here in New York and if we get to the final - then I'm there!
Our friends have arrived for a visit - armed with Millwall Wembley goodies - so Saturday should be a great day with all of us (Me, my wife Siobhan, Sister in-law Jane and brother in Law Bear) decked out in Millwall dress in one shape or form.
I wish the boys the very best of luck for Saturday. Remember - we are not there to make up the numbers, Wembley is no longer a novelty, we have been there and Cardiff enough times over recent years for us to arrive knowing that we can do it.
Come on the boys - will be cheering loud from New York - and looking forward to a fantastic 3-1 win for us."
From Austria we have received the following: Hi Millwall, my name is Josef Steiner (in English Joe Stone), I live in Austria and I love Millwall FC. They have the best, the proudest and the loudest fans in the world.
I read on the Millwall FC homepage that I could wish the team the best for Saturday's Semi-Final against Wigan. So I do this now!!
All The Best,
And don't forget.…No-one likes us!
Allan Beagle from Hastings, New Zealand wrote to us saying: Kiaora from an Old Kent Road boy who has followed Millwall FC for over 60 years.
I would like to wish Kenny and the boys good luck for the Semi-Final on Saturday. As I now live in New Zealand am unable to make the 12,000 mile journey to Wembley, but you will hear me cheering from the other side of the World at 2am Sunday morning NZ time!! I will be watching the Lions get through to the final (again!) on ESPN.
Bring it home you Lions!!
Micky Kelliher added: Looking forward to going two Wembley on Saturday with my dad, my godson and two nephews flying from Shannon airport Ireland  to London to see The Lions; lifelong Millwall fans. Come on you blues!

Good luck Millwall at the Semi Final v Wigan.
I am originally from Rotherhithe And have supported Millwall for all my 46 years.
I have been working in various countries since 2000. The only time my wife And I have been to Wembley with Millwall was 1999 v Wigan. This time I want Millwall to have revenge.
Last FA Cup Final 2004 for Millwall I was working in Canada shortly after moving from Dubai.
My family and I last season were working in the UK, based in Derbyshire. We went to all Millwall away Midlands games and my son Fred had the privilege of being Millwall matchday mascot at Nottingham Forest. Fred told me it was the best day of his life even though we lost. Fred was so proud to be Millwall mascot and I was so proud of him.
We also enjoyed a number of games at The Den.
Although my son, now 11, was born in Dubai he is an ardent Millwall fan and went to his first game at The Den on a holiday visit to the UK from the Philippines when he was six.
We expect to be moving again shortly to one of the Caribbean islands. Rest assured we will continue to be proud Millwall supporters and preach about Millwall wherever we are.
This time....Good luck from Guyana. Gutted we can't be at Wembley to be part of the Millwall Roar.
Regards
Terry and Frederick White

Werner van de Ruit and Shang Yu unfortunately are unable to attend tomorrow's game due to his wife's illness, as he explains: Me and my son cannot travel to Wembley tommorrow. A sad situation and yes, we know what it’s like.
We still have so much good memories of that great match at Old Trafford in 2004.
It was there when we’ve met the Mayne Family of Welling, Kent. Four generations of Lions fans!! Yvonne, Steve + the rest..…we will think about you tommorrow! We also often think about our last visit to Wembley when we beat Swindon. These are moments every Lions fan are cherishing for the rest of their lives.
Enclosed is a picture of my son with David Forde, taken before the match against Leeds in 2012.
We wish all Lions an unforgettable day!
Europe here we come..….again!
