Defensive duo back in the frame

30 April 2013

Tuesday night team news

Kenny Jackett welcomes back defenders Shane Lowry and Danny Shittu to the squad as Millwall prepare for a must-win game against local rivals Crystal Palace at The Den tonight.
Left-back Lowry has missed the last three games after accumulating 15 yellow cards this season whilst skipper Shittu was sidelined for the Nottingham Forest match following his red card against Blackburn Rovers seven days ago.
Manager Jackett is likely to include both players in his starting line-up, although again looks likely to again be without the services of midfielder Liam Trotter (knee) and Chris Taylor (groin).
Striker Jermaine Easter is ineligible to play against his parent club having joined The Lions on loan from Palace last month as Jackett tries to find a combination to give The Lions a real cutting edge up front.
He said: "We have to focus on ourselves. I don't think there will be many changes from the Forest game - we have Danny Shittu and Shane Lowry back from suspension but otherwise it will be the same group."
Likely squad: Forde, M.Taylor, Dunne, A.Smith, J.Smith, Lowry, Beevers, Shittu, Osborne, Abdou, St Ledger, Wright, Saville, Feeney, Batt, Keogh, Marquis, Henry, Woolford, Malone, Tyson.
Meanwhile Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway will weigh up his options before finalising his team tonight with midfield duo Owen Garvan and Jonny Williams both pushing for starting places after returning to the first team as substitutes in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Blackburn. Garvan had been out for around four months with a knee injury whilst Williams is also back to full fitness following problems with his knee too.
Jonny Parr remains out of action with ankle ligament damage, as does club captain Paddy McCarthy, who has been sidelined all season.
