Lions pledge ongoing support
Once again, Lions fans, players and staff came up trumps in supporting a local cause.
On Saturday Millwall launched its partnership with Peckham Foodbank to help collect items of food to provide emergency support to people in need within our local community.
Members of the MSC, along with Peckham Foodbanks Director Chris Price and his family, were at the blue bus in the car park before the Brighton game receiving donations, and Chris has sent us this message:
Peckham Foodbank are so pleased to be supported by the players and fans at Millwall. On the first time of asking we received nearly 90kg of donated food including cereal, pasta, biscuits and tinned food. This is much more food that we expected and will make a real difference to local families in crisis.
As our boxes become a regular feature on the Millwall bus we hope that more and more fans will join the players in donating food.
With winter coming, not getting a decent meal has a real impact on children and adults alike, so practical support through the Foodbank helps people in a short term financial crisis to get over a troubled time.
Once again thank you, we are so excited to be working with everyone at Millwall.
We will be collecting on behalf of Foodbank (via the Millwall bus) at every home game this season, so please bring an item or two from your kitchen cupboard along to the Bolton match and see if we can beat that 90kg total next time.
These are the things Peckham Foodbank need:
Tinned meat, UHT Milk, Sugar (500g), Fruit Juice (carton), Soup, Pasta sauces, Sponge pudding (tinned), Tomatoes(tinned), Cereals, Rice pudding (tinned), Tea bags/instant coffee, Instant mash potato, Rice, Tinned vegetables, Tinned fruit, Biscuits or snack bars.
Items not needed at the moment: Baked beans, Pasta.
