In it to win it

15 November 2012

Skipper Shittu spells it out

Danny Shittu is relishing Sunday’s televised visit of Leeds United as The Lions look to continue their recent run of good form which has seen the side climb the Championship table to tenth place.
Kenny Jackett’s men are unbeaten in the eight games that Danny has been stand-in skipper and whilst Millwall will feature live on TV for the first time this season, the centre-half believes his side will treat it as just another League game.
“Every match is a big one and Leeds are just another team that we’re up against," he said. "It’s a game that we believe we can win with the way we’re playing at the moment.
They’re coming to our ground as well and we’re trying to make The Den a fortress again. We want to show Leeds that they’re not going to find it easy.”
The Elland Road outfit travel to south London with a number of injuries and suspensions and are on the back of a 6-1 thumping received at the hands of Watford in Yorkshire last weekend. That result, Danny believes, will make the visitors a dangerous beast come Sunday lunchtime.
“I’m sure they are going to try and bounce back from that. Neil Warnock won’t have been too happy with that result but we just want to play our game and do what we need to do right.”
