Lionesses Spur-red on

The Millwall Lionesses maintained their 100 per cent home record in the League with a 2-0 win over Tottenham Ladies.
In what proved to be a very entertaining London derby the Lionesses started brightly and put Spurs on the back-foot from the opening minute as they pressed hard and chased down every ball, with their slick passing proving to be too much for Tottenham.
After five minutes a clever Shauni Griffiths volley flew inches wide of the bottom corner and Emma Whitter then went twice in quick succession with only the Spurs keeper getting the better of her.
A long distance shot from Alicia Ferguson was also well saved by the Spurs number one.
However the Lionesses got the reward for their hard work in the 32nd minute when Ferguson cleverly found Whitter, who hit the back of the net after running around the goalie.
Spurs had their chances and a Bianca Baptiste strike stung Gibbs’ hands before hitting the post after Gibbs was again able to get her fingertips to the ball.
As the second half commenced it was all about Millwall as they upped the tempo and dominated the possession with Ellie Manning and Player of the Match Ferguson at the heart of the activity.
On the hour mark Shauni Griffiths skilfully played the ball across the goal and Sherwood was a whisker away from connecting.
The goal of the game came 18 minutes from time when a corner was cleared by the Spurs defence but only as far as Ferguson's left foot who rifled the ball into the back of the net.
The Lionesses pressed for a third goal but some smart defending and misplaced shots kept the final score at a thoroughly respectable 2-0.
