Perfect preparation

5 August 2012

Lions looking good

Kenny Jackett was particularly pleased with the challenge offered by Exeter City on a good St James' Park pitch on Saturday in terms of his preparations for the big kick-off.
He said: "Exeter play a style of football we will encounter regularly in the Championship this season. Tactically they posed us the sort of problems we will have to deal with in the coming months, so it was very useful from that point of view.
After the defeat at Crawley, a win was important for us at this stage, but there is still plenty to work on.
Maik Taylor wasn't involved today because David Forde needed a game but he's fine and hopefully Paul Robinson and Shane Lowry could be involved at Southend on Tuesday night. Everyone else who needed it got game time at Exeter which was also important."
