Full-time score from Hayes Lane
John Marquis scored a goal in each half as Millwall wrapped up their pre-season preparations with a comfortable win at Conference South outfit Bromley.
A predominantly young Lions starting XI was supplemented by a trio of senior players, with Alan Dunne (60mins) and both Shaun Batt (90mins) and goalscorer Marquis (90mins) getting useful match minutes.
Marquis opened Millwall's account on 31 minutes when, following a quick break from a Bromley corner, Batt raced clear of full-back Sanchez Ming and cut back for Marquis to slide home from close-range.
Bromley fielded a strong, experienced side and came close to levelling 20 minutes from time, but sub Nic McDonnell was denied by the woodwork.
Marquis added his - and Millwall's second - late on, cheekily chipping home from the peanlty spot after strike partner Conor Wilkinson had been fouled.
"It was good that the senior lads got the match minutes, which was pre-planned," said coach Scott Fitzgerald, "and a week before our season starts, this was a much-needed solid work-out.
Our younger lads coped well with Bromley, and it was nice for the development squad to keep their first clean sheet of pre-season.
It was the intention in our planning that all the pre-season games played by the development squad would be against first teams, rather than youth teams. This has been a very good experience for them, but I know that there is more to come from them too."
