Under 23s suffer Hornets defeat

Our take from University College London...

Millwall's Under 23s were defeated 2-0 by Watford in the Professional Development League on Tuesday afternoon.

Kevin Nugent was able to name first-team squad members Ben Thompson and Connor Mahoney in his starting line-up, with Nana Baoteng, who recently made his senior Lions bow, and Hayden Muller, on his return from a loan spell at St Johnstone, lining-up alongside Sean O'Brien, who was back from injury.

The Lions had a chance to take the lead from the penalty spot midway through the second-half, but Tyrese Briscoe's kick was tipped onto the post by the goalkeeper.

That proved to be a pivotal moment as Shaq Forde struck twice late on to give The Hornets all three points.

Connor Mahoney played 60 minutes at University College London.

Next up for Millwall's Under 23s is a trip to Swansea City on Tuesday 1st February.

Millwall: Wright, Smith, Tiensia, Allen, Muller, Topalloj, Boateng, Thompson, Briscoe, O'Brien, Mahoney. Subs: Okoli, Hammond, Abdulmalik, Walker, Leahy.
