Millwall's Under 23s were 2-0 winners over Cardiff City in the Professional Development League on Wednesday morning.
Alex Mitchell and Sean O'Brien scored in either half to give Kevin Nugent's side three points.
With Wednesday's Sky Bet Championship meeting with Reading on the horizon, Nugent was unable to select names such as Hayden Muller and James Brown, whilst there were starts for Abdul Abdulmalik and Nana Boateng.
The first effort of the game went the way of Millwall, but Daniel Moss headed O'Brien's corner-kick over the crossbar on seven minutes.
Boateng then forced Cardiff goalkeeper George Ratcliffe into a save, before the scoring was opened with 16 minutes on the clock as Mitchell turned home a cross from close range.
Keenan Patten struck a rare Bluebirds chance into the arms of Ryan Sandford from long range, before further chances to extend Millwall's lead through George Alexander and Boateng went begging just before the break.
Reuben Duncan shot wide 10 minutes into the second-half, before Junior Tiensia made a welcome comeback from injury with 61 minutes played - and just three minutes later, the left-back set up O'Brien for a wonderful strike, as the attacker brought the ball down before striking a half-volley into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area.
The Lions were comfortable from there, with only a smart Sandford save - from Roland Idowu's shot - deep into stoppage-time acting as any potential for a Cardiff fightback.
Next up for Millwall's Under 23s is a home game - the fourth in a row - against Colchester United on Tuesday 15th December.
