Millwall's Under 23s and Bristol City battled to a 0-0 draw at Calmont Road in the Professional Development League on Monday afternoon.
A youthful Lions side struck The Robins' woodwork twice through Joe Wicks and Michel Parker, but were unable to beat City goalkeeper Athaji Sesay.
A largely uneventful first-half finally came to life shortly before the break as Ricardo Rees headed over and Lewis White forced a save from Sesay.
The second-half saw more action as firstly Wicks fired just over, before Isaac Olaofe beat his marker and was one-on-one with Sesay, but the stopper smothered the attacker before he could pull the trigger.
Parker - who signed a short-term deal until January with The Lions shortly before the game - struck the crossbar on 64 minutes and although Jesse Debrah was well-placed to head the rebound into the net, Sesay somehow stretched out an arm and diverted the ball to safety.
Wicks then became the second Millwall player to hit the bar on 74 minutes, whilst Tom Richards wasted a golden opportunity for Bristol City at the other end three minutes later.
Olaofe again found himself one-on-one with Sesay in stoppage-time, but the goalkeeper responded well once more, plucking the ball from the feet of 'Tanto' as he looked to round him.
Next up for Kevin Nugent's side is a trip to Cardiff City next Monday.
