Late drama at The Den

Lions and Tractor Boys draw in Professional Development League...

10 November 2017

Young Lions frustrated by late goal in dramatic 2-2 Professional Development League draw at The Den.

Harry Donovan opened the scoring after some lovely footwork before Ted Bishop's sweetly struck free-kick flew straight past Tom King to draw Ipswich level before the break.

The Tractor Boys' resistance broke again in the 79th minute when Kristian Brymora darted into the box and beat Michael Crowe at his near post with a lofted effort, but Ben Morris ensured the visitors would leave SE16 with a share of the spoils with virtually the last kick of the game.

Kevin Nugent's side was bouyed by the inclusion of senior players Fred Onyedinma, Tom Elliott, Ben Thompson and Mahlon Romeo, but it was teenager Harry Donovan who broke the deadlock in the 20th minute.

With bodies pouring into the box, Donovan did well to navigate his way into space and fire into the far corner.

It was a needless foul at the edge of the area that provided the visitors with a golden chance to equalise, allowing Ted Bishop to step up and curl the ball into the back of the net in the 33rd minute.

With the clock winding down Kristian Brymora appeared to have struck the winner with a composed strike from inside the area, 11 minutes from time.

But it proved a short-lived lead, and when Ben Morris was played into space in the final knockings of the game the Ipswich striker squeezed the ball underneath Tom King with just seconds to spare.
