A look ahead to Loftus Road meeting...

12 March 2018

Millwall's Under 23s travel the short distance to Queens Park Rangers on Monday afternoon for a Professional Development League meeting (kick-off 2pm).

Kevin Nugent's young Lions will look to build on their South London derby victory over Crystal Palace last time out and will also seek the double over The R's following a 2-1 success at Calmont Road in December.

Aiden O'Brien is set to make his first appearance since suffering an ankle injury in the 4-3 victory over Leeds United, whilst numerous first-team players are also marked to start.

Entry at Loftus Road is FREE, with donations to the 'QPR in the Community trust' welcome on the gate.

Millwall: Martin, McNamara, Toffolo, Donovan, Debrah, Mbulu, O'Brien, Thompson, Elliott, Onyedinma, Ferguson, Hanson, Sandford, Saunders-Henry, Ajiboye, Leighton.

Rangers and Lions share the spoils in Professional Development League

Our take from Loftus Road...

12 March 2018

QPR and Millwall's Under 23s battled to a 1-1 Professional Development League draw at Loftus Road on Monday afternoon.

Tom Elliott gave Kevin Nugent's side an early lead, but Osman Kakay equalised further into the first-half to secure a point.

Aiden O'Brien returned from an injury lay-off to take his place in a strong starting XI that also included David Martin, Harry Toffolo, Ben Thompson, Elliott, Fred Onyedinma and Shane Ferguson.

On 11 minutes, Millwall took the lead as Elliott headed home a cross from close range.

The young Lions nearly doubled the lead seven minutes later, but a flowing move ended with Thompson's shot being saved by Timothy Dieng.

QPR fought back and forced Martin into stopping efforts from Ilias Chair and Idrissa Sylla, but there was nothing the goalkeeper could do with Kakay's sweet equaliser in the 36th minute, as he looped a shot over the head of the former MK Dons man.

The R's nearly took the lead as the first-half came to a close, but Aramide Oteh smashed a shot against the post.

Sylla had the chance to put Rangers in front just before the hour-mark, but scuffed his shot wide. A few minutes later at the other end, Onyedinma charged down a clearance and headed towards goal, but chipped his effort wide.

Romeo Akinola crashed a shot against the crossbar late on, before an outstanding challenge from Jesse Debrah prevented Deshane Dalling from winning the game at the death.

QPR: Dieng, Kakay, Williams, Owens, Phillips, Wells, Oteh (Akinola), Chair, Sylla (Fox), Tilt, Mackie (Dalling). Sub not used: Brzozowski.

Scorer: Kakay 36'

Millwall: Martin, McNamara, Toffolo, Donovan, Debrah, Mbulu, O'Brien (Ajiboye), Thompson, Elliott (Leighton), Onyedinma, Ferguson. Subs not used: Hanson, Saunders-Henry, Sandford.

Scorer: Elliott 11'

Referee: Mr R Whitton
