Young Lions begin FA Youth Cup campaign

A trip to Middlesbrough for Millwall's Under 18s...

4 December 2020

Millwall's Under 18s meet Middlesbrough in an FA Youth Cup Third Round tie on Friday afternoon (kick-off 3pm).

The tie, to be played at Bishop Auckland's Heritage Park stadium, sees Larry McAvoy and Chris Perry's side begin their journey as they look to emulate the side which reached the Quarter-Finals last season, before being narrowly defeated by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Lions currently sit in fifth place in the Under 18s Professional Development League, whilst their opponents are in the same position in the Under 18s Premier League - a division containing the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City, the current top three.

Young Lions bow out of FA Youth Cup

Under 18s lose at Middlesbrough...

4 December 2020

Millwall's Under 18s were defeated 4-0 by Middlesbrough in the FA Youth Cup Third Round on Friday afternoon.

At a rain-soaked Heritage Park, goals from Calum Kavanagh (2), Pharrell Willis and Josh Coburn eased Boro into Round Four and ended The Lions' hopes.

Millwall had chances to register on the scoresheet, no more so than when Nana Boateng was fouled inside the box with the score at 1-0, but Oli Bate missed the resulting penalty-kick.

A second spot-kick was granted to The Lions late on, but Boateng - who had been fouled - stepped up and blasted his strike wide.

Millwall: Gilmore, Miller, Smith, Allen, Dailly, Okoli, Leahy, Bate, Briscoe, Abdulmalik, Boateng. Subs: Walker, Hammond, Hamouchene, Hearn, Donaldson.
