Preview | Barnsley v Millwall

Oakwell awaits...

26 June 2020

Millwall travel to Barnsley in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 1pm).

The fixture represents the first away game back after the resumption of English football for The Lions, and they will be looking to avenge last weekend's 3-2 defeat at the hands of Derby County at The Den - they will, however, be up against a Tykes outfit desperate to climb out of the division's bottom three.

Gary Rowett will have Mason Bennett available for selection once again after he was unable to face his parent club, but Shaun Hutchinson and Alex Pearce are unlikely to feature after not training all week - the former sustaining an injury during last Saturday's match.

The fitness of Ben Thompson, meanwhile, will be assessed before kick-off, whilst youngsters Hayden Muller and Tyler Burey could join fellow prospects Billy Mitchell and James Brown in the matchday squad.

The only way to watch Saturday's trip to Oakwell is via iFollow. With exclusive HD four-camera coverage, full match commentary, replays and more, non-season ticket holders in the UK can buy a Match Pass for £10, with international subscribers able to pay a £5 fee for the action. Season ticket holders who have not yet redeemed their code are strongly advised to do so well in advance of kick-off to prevent any issues arising just before the game. For full details, click here. The stream will begin at approximately midday.

Stalemate at Oakwell

Our report from Barnsley...

27 June 2020

Barnsley and Millwall played out a goalless draw at Oakwell in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Shane Ferguson's free-kick, which hit the crossbar in the first-half, was the biggest chance of the game.

Gary Rowett made three changes from last Saturday's 3-2 defeat at home to Derby County, as Shaun Williams, Mason Bennett and Tom Bradshaw replaced Ryan Woods, Ryan Leonard and Matt Smith.

The Lions were seeing a lot of the ball early, with their high pressing causing the Barnsley defence to balloon the ball out of play twice - but the first real chance of the game went the way of the home side.

On 18 minutes, Romal Palmer was fouled on the edge of the penalty area and Cauley Woodrow stepped up to take the free-kick - one which Bartosz Bialkowski expertly tipped over the crossbar.

Two minutes later, The Lions had a golden chance of their own, but after Jayson Molumby was brought down, Shane Ferguson's fantastic hit cracked the crossbar and bounced to safety after hitting Tykes goalkeeper Jack Walton on the way down.

It was Millwall who were making most of the attacking play as the midway point of the half came and went; Murray Wallace heading Ferguson's free-kick wide shortly before the drinks break, before Bennett's attempt was blocked behind.

The Tykes improved after the break and Bialkowski was made to work by Alex Mowatt - but as much as both sides probed, chances of an opening goal looked few and far between.

A flashpoint occured with 71 minutes played as Bennett challenged Jacob Brown, with referee Jeremy Simpson showing the attacker a yellow card, before chances at either end - Brown for Barnsley and Murray Wallace for Millwall - failed to register.

Jake Cooper's outstanding and potentially goal-saving challenge as Conor Chaplin shaped to shoot kept the sheet clean, before drama in injury-time first saw Bialkowski have to save from Mads Andersen and Connor Mahoney's free-kick cleared away as both sides had to settle for a point.
