A look ahead to Saturday's Den encounter...

28 July 2017

Millwall return to The Den this Saturday for their final pre-season friendly against Spanish Segunda side Granada Club de Futbol.

The Lions take on their Iberian counterparts just six days before traveling to Nottingham Forest for their opening Sky Bet Championship game.

Supporters will get their first glimpse at summer signings James Meredith, Tom Elliott, George Saville and Conor McLaughlin on Den soil, as well as a chance to welcome back Jed Wallace, now a Lion on a permanent basis following a move from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Tickets for the fixture are on general sale, priced at just £10 adults and £5 over 60s and under 16s. The Barry Kitchener Stand ONLY is open for this game.

A 16-page programme, priced at £1, will also be on offer, complete with a season planner wall chart, detailing all of the club's fixtures over the forthcoming campaign.

Before the game, the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final trophy will be situated in the Millwall Marquee in the main car park for supporters wishing to take photographs, whilst the match itself will see The Lions wear their brand new 2017/18 away kit - which can be purchased in store or online now.

Lions ease to victory over Granada Club de Futbol

Our take on Den pre-season friendly...

29 July 2017

Goals from Jed Wallace, Shaun Williams and Aiden O'Brien handed Millwall a comfortable 3-0 pre-season friendly victory over Granada Club de Futbol at The Den on Saturday afternoon.

Wallace opened the scoring shortly before the half-hour mark, whilst a quick-fire second-half double from Williams and O'Brien made it the perfect start to Millwall's 2017/18 campaign in SE16.

Lions boss Neil Harris opted for a strong XI ahead of next Friday's opening Sky Bet Championship encounter at Nottingham Forest, with Lee Gregory and Steve Morison starting up front in a side that included summer recruits Conor McLaughlin, James Meredith and George Saville.

The game was a little under four minutes old when The Lions nearly took the lead in extraordinary circumstances, but Byron Webster's attempt from just inside his own half landed on the top of the Granada net.

Further half-chances from Saville and Aiden O'Brien followed, but the lead was gained on 28 minutes, when Wallace deceived the goalkeeper with a free-kick that snuck inside the near post.

In an otherwise quiet opening half, Jose Luis Moreno Barroso briefly troubled Jordan Archer on 41 minutes, but his shot was comfortably saved.

On 52 minutes, the lead was doubled. A loose ball on the edge of the penalty area was pounced on by Williams, who thundered a shot low to goalkeeper Rui Silva's left to make it 2-0 to The Lions.

Barely 60 seconds had passed when Millwall went three to the good. Clever work from Wallace carved an opening for a cross - one that found O'Brien given the freedom of south London at the back post to head home.

Archer was called into action on 65 minutes, expertly tipping over Antonio Rodriguez Diaz's long-range drive.

Tom Elliott, introduced into the game with a little under 20 minutes to go, nearly made it 4-0 on 74 minutes, but after chesting down and firing towards goal, his shot was stopped by Silva. The chances kept coming, but Shaun Hutchinson could crash a header off the post following substitute Shane Ferguson's whipped-in free-kick.

Gregory rounded the goalkeeper on 80 minutes and squared for Elliott, but his attempt was cleared off the line.
