Lions travel to The Hive on Saturday...

21 July 2017

Conor McLaughlin is set to make his first appearance in a Millwall shirt as The Lions travel to Barnet for a pre-season friendly at The Hive this Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

The Northern Irishman was among a full squad of players that successfully completed a week-long training camp in Portugal and the right-back will be involved against The Bees, with Lions boss Neil Harris utilising his group over the course of the next two games.

Two different squads will look to gain important minutes at Barnet and Stevenage before next Saturday's final pre-season friendly at home to Granada Club de Futbol.

The likes of Jordan Archer, Byron Webster, Calum Butcher and Lee Gregory will be involved at The Hive, with youngsters Kris Twardek and Lewis White also looking to force their way into the manager's thinking for the opening weekend clash with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Tickets will be available on the day, but they can also be bought in advance by clicking here.

Lions slip to defeat at The Hive...

22 July 2017

John Akinde's 19th-minute strike proved to be the only goal of the game at The Hive on Saturday afternoon as Millwall suffered a narrow loss to Barnet in a pre-season friendly.

Lions boss Neil Harris opted for an XI including the likes of Jordan Archer, Shaun Williams and Lee Gregory as the manager looks to split his squad between The Lions' two pre-season friendlies at The Hive and Stevenage on Tuesday night.

A quiet start saw Calum Butcher muster Millwall's only half-chance of note, but on 19 minutes, Akinde sprung the offside trap to slot past Archer and hand The Bees the lead.

Shane Ferguson, Steve Morison and David Worrall all had efforts to get The Lions back into the game - particularly the former pair, who saw their attempts end in a remarkable double-save by Barnet goalkeeper Jamie Stephens - but Millwall went in at half-time without a goal to their name.

The second-half was five minutes old when Akinde powered through the Millwall defence, but the striker was unable to get a powerful enough strike away to beat substitute goalkeeper Tom King.

A quiet half was to follow, with only Gregory's shot, which was blocked by Ricardo Almeida Santos behind for a corner-kick, becoming the solitary effort of note.

Barnet: Stephens, Johnson, Clough, Santos, Akinde, Campbell-Ryce, Taylor, Tutonda, Bover, Taylor, Shomotun. Subs: Ross, Akinola, Kyei, Fonguck, Vilhete, Cojocarel, Akpa Akpro, Mason-Clark, Smith, Amaluzor.

Scorer: Akinde (19')

Millwall: Archer (King 46'), McLaughlin (Brown 79'), Meredith, Hutchinson, Williams, Worrall, Gregory, Butcher, Webster, Ferguson (Twardek 79'), Morison. Subs not used: Nelson, Donovan, White, Philpot.
