Crawley Town reserves 1 Millwall reserves 0
An inexperienced Millwall reserve side went down by a goal to nil in a keenly contested totesport Combination clash at Crawley Town on Tuesday evening.
Paul Robinson, John Sullivan, Marcus Bignot and Ashley Grimes were the quartet of senior campaigners in Richard Shaw's line-up, and the best news of the night was the fact that Robbo came through a stiff physical 90 minutes unscathed and could now be in contention for the trip to Stockport on Saturday in the absence of Andy Frampton.
Crawley striker Danny Forrest struck the winning goal on the stroke of half-time, and even though The Lions had second half opportunities in a game of limited clear-cut chances, they couldn't force an equaliser.
The closest they came was a one-on-one situation for Connor French who put his effort wide of the post, but Shawsy couldn't fault his team for application and effort.
He said: "The young lads did well against a more experienced side. The game was played at a good tempo and the only frustration was that we didn't get anything out of it.
It was a first taste of football at this level for the likes of Jake Gallagher and David Adepide, so overall I wasn't displeased."
