Grim for Ash?

Posted on: Wed 16 Sep 2009
Ashley Grimes became the latest unlucky Lion to sustain an injury when he was forced off with a hamstring strain 20 minutes from the end of Tuesday night's reserve game 0-0 draw at Eastbourne Borough.
"We don't know if it is just a strain yet," said coach Richard Shaw, "But should have a better idea over the next day or two."
Of the game itself, Shawsy was full of praise for the effort put in by his side.
"The fact that two senior players - Adam Bolder and Danny Schofield - both asked to play in the match says a hell of a lot about them and their commitment," he revealed.
"They both put in a really good shift, worked really hard and showed a good attitude.
In fact, everyone did well. The boys did everything that they were asked to do and nine times out of 10 we would have won this game.
It was just one of those days when we could not get the ball in the back of the net. Ash could have had a hat-trick, John Marquis and Kiernan Hughes-Mason were both denied and their keeper had an absolute stormer.
The worry would be if the players turned up with the wrong attitude, didn't do as they were asked, didn't create chances or get in good scoring positions. They did all of those things - we just couldn't get the goals to show for it."
Team: Sullivan, Bignot, beckles, Stevenson, Fitzsimons, Tevfik, Bolder, Schofield, Marquis, Grimes (Gallagher, 70mins), Hughes-Mason. Subs not used: Janneh, Palmer, Ludford, Ofoche.
