Maidstone-born Danny signed for The Lions on 1st July from League One rivals
A product of the Gills' youth system, he signed his first professional contract in 2000 but saw his first season ravaged by injury. However, having finally broken into the first team, he really came to the fore during the 2003-4 season and was promptly named Player of the Year after a string of man-of-the-match performances.
Predominantly a midfielder, Spiller has also played as a striker, and right back, although his preferred position is in central midfield.
