Steve Morison struck twice to shoot down lacklustre Carlisle United at Brunton Park.
Danny LiveseyThe Millwall striker took advantage of mistakes in either half to punish Greg Abbott's side.
Danny Livesey's header in injury-time gave United brief hope but the promotion-chasing Lions were good value for the points, and wrapped up victory at the death through Danny Schofield.
Morison put the Lions in front in the 12th minute when he lobbed the stranded Adam Collin after Shaun Batt had headed on a long kick from goalkeeper David Forde.
The ex-Stevenage man doubled his tally in the 78th minute when he headed into an empty net, after Collin failed to collect a Chris Hackett cross.
United enjoyed spells of pressure but struggled to create any genuine chances until a Livesey header squirmed over the line in the second minute of stoppage time.
But there was no dramatic finale from the Blues, who were then caught on the break by Schofield, who tucked home Morison's cross.
Player-coach Graham Kavanagh, who went close with an early volley, came into the side in place of Darryl Duffy, who is missing with a groin injury.
It meant Scott Dobie was asked to operate as a lone centre-forward against his former club.

Capital performance of the night had to be Millwall's 3-1 win at Carlisle, their eighth in 10 games, as Steve Morison's double and a Danny Schofield strike put four points between Kenny Jackett's team and seventh-placed Huddersfield in the League One play-off hunt.
Millwall host third-placed Charlton on Saturday, against whom goal hero Morison also scored two in the 4-4 thriller at The Valley earlier this season.
Jackett is looking forward to the occasion and said: "It will be the biggest crowd at our place since I've been manager."
