Up for the Cup

Posted on: Tue 24 Aug 2010

Kenny Jackett says Saturday's defeat at Elland Road emphasises the fact that his side cannot afford to drop below their highest standards if they are to compete with the best the Championship has to offer.
While tonight they take a break from league action to take on Middlesbrough in the second round of the Carling Cup, The Lions' opponents are highly favoured to top the Championship tree come the end of the season and have a wealth of attacking talent in their ranks.
Looking forward to the game Kenny stated: "The next challenge is a terrific one in the shape of  another ex-Premier League side in Middlesbrough. This is the sort of game we will relish, and the challenge for our players is to compete with this quality of opposition week-in week-out."
A win tonight could potentially set up a money spinning clash with one of the top Premiership outfits as those currently exempted due to European commitments will come in at the third round stage.

If you are not able to get along to The Den this evening, why not tune in to the Lions Player team who will hopefully be joined by Tony Craig for full 90 minutes commentary.
