At this stage in the season, both Millwall and Middlesbrough could be forgiven for deciding that a Carling Cup second round tie was an unwanted inconvenience.
For Boro, installed as pre-season promotion favourites and having invested heavily in the transfer market, there is no doubt that their priority lies in reclaiming a Premier League spot next May.
Similarly for Kenny Jackett's men, establishing themselves as a force in the Championship after winning promotion last season is the number one goal, but the Lions boss clearly believes this is a game he wants to win.
Kenny names the same 19 players that made the trip to Leeds at the weekend, and while he may be tempted to give a start to one or two who were on the bench at Elland Road, it will undoubtedly be a strong Millwall XI that takes the field against Boro.
Matthew Bates will be rested by Gordon Strachan, and it remains to be seen whether he opts make further changes after Sunday's hard fought first win of the season against Sheffield United (1-0).
The prolific Kris Boyd scored his first Championship goal in that game, and with the likes of Scott McDonald and Nicky Bailey in their ranks, Boro possess plenty of firepower.
The two sides last met in this competition way back in 1965 when goals from Billy Neil, Ken Jones and Len Julians earned The Lions a third round replay victory. Billy, Ken plus Barry Rowan and George Jacks from that winning side will be introduced to the crowd before tonight's game.
Should the scores remain level after 90 minutes the tie will go to extra-time and if necessary penalty kicks.
