Dunne's deal delight

Posted on: Fri 19 Mar 2010

Alan Dunne has today pledged his future to Millwall and signed a new contract that will keep him at The Den until the summer of 2012.
Dunney, who has been in outstanding form at right-back this season, could not hide his delight after putting pen to paper on a two-year extension.
"I'm really happy to have got this all sorted out," he said.
"My contract was up at the end of the season, but I would have signed on a weekly basis if necessary - there was simply no other club I want to play for.
This provides security for my family, and with our second child on the way it's good to have everything agreed and signed."
Dunney, who made the 206th appearance of his Lions career during last Saturday's 4-0 demolition of Charlton, aims to Alan Dunnemake it a double celebration by helping The Lions win promotion this year.
"I've been involved with the club for nearly 18 years now," he added, "And my first ever training session at Millwall was on my 10th birthday.
You can certainly say that I have experienced some highs and lows during that time, and at the moment, everything is really looking good.
We got to the Play-Off final last season, but we are all really desperate to go that step further and win promotion this year. Ideally we will do it automatically, but if it has to be via the Play-Offs then that will do. We just need to get back to The Championship.
Monday is a massive game for us at Leeds because a win there would really put the pressure on them, even a draw for us wouldn't be the worst result because there are still plenty of games left and all the teams around us still have to play each other.
Seven or eight wins for us will, I think, be enough to get automatic promotion. The most important thing is that it is in our own hands - and we know what we have to do."
Lions Chief Executive Andy Ambler added: "We're delighted to have agreed a contract extension with Dunney, who has already been a great servant to Millwall."
