Mor of the same

Posted on: Sat 06 Mar 2010

The first of Steve Morison's 14 goals for Millwall this season came back in September when The Lions brushed aside Huddersfield Town 3-1 at The Den.
One goal in the following 12 games followed as the former Stevenage Borough settled in at The Den before striker Steve hit a purple patch in front of goal towards the end of 2009, bagging five in four games including a brace against tomorrow's opponents Walsall.
While strike partner Neil Harris may be taking the plaudits in recent weeks, there is no doubt to that Steve's contribution to the team continues to be immense.
Having continued to produce some top-notch performances since the turn of the year, it remains slightly surprising tthat Steve's displays have only reaped two goals.
Strikers thrive on goals, but as far as Steve is concerned, it is a matter of if - and not when - his selfless approachwork will pay dividends again.
"I think we've played five games since Brighton where I've played well and had a hand in goals that others have scored, so I'm just doing what the manager wants and the goals will come," he said.
"I'm just looking forward to playing every week and getting the next three points, because if I keeping playing the way I am then I will get goals and we will keep winning games."
With two tough away games on the spin at Walsall and then Carlisle United next Tuesday, it is imperative that The Lions keep the momentum going as the season approaches the final quarter of fixtures.
"We've beaten Walsall at home," said Steve, "But it'll be a tough place to go with them coming out on the back of a bad result at Southampton last weekend.
But we'll go there with confidence following our recent run. Likewise the trip to Carlisle is always difficult, but we'll do things right in going up there, prepare correctly and hopefully get the right result."
If you fancy a flutter on Steve you can get 35/1 that he scores first in a 2-1 Millwall win at Walsall. Click here for details
