The excitement of seeing Dave Martin crash home his 20-yard strike to seal the three points against Cheltenham on Saturday was evidently too much for defender Tony Craig.
As mascot Zampa the Lion came to the touchline to join the players in celebration, TC was seen to join his furry friend in a frenzied physical free-for-all leaving the hairy one (no not Tony) with a broken nose.
A contrite left back apologised to the big fella saying: "It's great that Zampa gets as excited as the fans and the players when we score, but I did get a bit carried away after that goal.
A broken nose is very painful, especially for a lion, and I hope it is mended by the time we play MK Dons here on 4th October. Zampa's doing a great job, particularly with our young fans, and I wouldn't want any of them to think I'd hurt him.
He's OK, and said next time is it OK if he jumps on me? I, of course, said no! Have you seen the size of him?"
