No-one from Millwall's squad played more first-team minutes of football last season than skipper Paul Robinson, so it's fair to say that the recent summer break was much needed and most welcome.
Having played in all bar one of The Lions' 53 matches, the close season provided Robbo with an opportunity to rest his weary bones and enjoy some well-deserved rest and recuperation.
But following his eight-week break, last season's Player of the Year was delighted to be back when Kenny Jackett's squad reported for pre-season training three days ago.
"Mentally I feel fresh after eight weeks of resting," he said, "And to be honest, I didn't even watch much of the European Championships. I distanced myself from football a bit so that I was relaxed and refreshed coming back.
We have drawn a line over last season already because we can't affect anything now.
This coming season is all that is on our minds right now. We have got a well structured programme in place and although there are a few early starts, the sessions are well spaced apart.
It's going to be hard for a few weeks but this is a platform for our whole season, so it is very, very important.
It's good to see some of the players now out of the injury room and training again; the number of injuries we had last season was a pain in the backside.
We have competiton for places which gives our manager good options for what will hopefully be a successful season."
