Millwall paid a heavy price for missing a handful of second-half chances as Huddersfield held The Lions to a third successive home League draw.
It was a frustrating night for Willie Donachie's side, who remain rooted in the League One danger zone following this uninspiring encounter.
Donachie was forced to make one change from the side that drew at Bradford City on Friday with Zak Whitbread sidelined through suspension and Mo Ross switching to fill in an unaccustomed left-back role.
And The Lions rearguard were still settling into their stride when Andy Holdsworth whipped in a deep cross after just two minutes that was headed narrowly wide by Martin McIntosh.
It took Millwall 11 minutes to register their first attempt on goal when Darren Byfield worked his way into the area, slipped past a couple of defenders and then saw his cross parried by keeper Matt Glennon.
Chris Brandon had a 23rd-minute effort disallowed for the visitors and then Gary Taylor-Fletcher's weak effort was comfortably held by Lenny Pidgeley as Huddersfield briefly threatened.
The introduction of Filipe Morais after the break and subsequent switch to a 4-4-2 formation coincided with The Lions best spell of the match in the opening minutes of the second half.
Millwall had a 50th-minute penalty appeal turned down when David Mirfin appeared to stick an arm out to handle, while Alan Dunne and Ben May both drilled wide in good positions.
May then headed Chris Hackett's corner over as Millwall huffed and puffed but could still not find that killer touch.
It looked as though their search for that all-important winning goal was going to arrive five minutes from time, only for Byfield's clipped effort to be hacked off the line by Mirfin.
Morais then fired straight at the keeper in the dying seconds, but for all Millwall's endeavour, there was just no way through a resilient visiting rearguard.
