Jody Morris popped up to slam home the penalty which won Millwall a valuable point against his former club at Elland Road on Sunday. Morris, who had been barracked by Leeds fans throughout, celebrated with joy after despatching his spot kick past Neil Sullivan five minutes from the end of an open and entertaining encounter. Millwall were awarded the penalty by referee Tony Leake when Pail Ifill was clattered as he attempted to force home Danny Dichio's flick on from an Adrian Serioux long throw. A point was a fair result as both sides attempted to create opportunities from start to finish.
Ifill, restored to the starting line up as Dennis Wise made just the one change from last weekend, had the best two chances for the visitors in the first half, but fired narrowly off target on both occasions.
For Leeds, Brian Deane headed just wide and Danny Pugh somehow blazed wide of an open goal before John Oster finally put the home side in front two minutes before the break. The Lions made a hash of clearing the danger and as the ball rebounded from Peter Sweeney, David Healy fed Oster, who switched the ball onto his left foot before firing home off Morris.
Ifill went close again after the break, but Leeds then enjoyed a good spell in which they threatened to increase their lead. However, Andy Marshall made a brilliant save to deny Healy after Oster had raced clear down the right and the Millwall defence rallied to repel the United onslought.
Morris then came within inches of an equaliser when his excellent left-foot drive was turned around the post by Sullivan. But the former Leeds man was not to be denied and left Elland Road wearing the broadest of smiles.
