Shot-shy Millwall fired blanks for a second successive game as they battled and scrapped their way to an awayday point at Gillingham.
Both sides went into action at Priestfield desperate for points - The Lions looking to kick-start their bid for a Play-Off spot and The Gills, to improve their chances of avoiding the dreaded drop.
But at the end of 90 minutes, it proved to be another disappointing afternoon as Dennis Wise's team were unable to make any real headway in closing the gap on the promotion pack.
An instantly forgettable opening half was not helped by a fierce wind and sodden pitch that cut up easily, making it difficult for either side to produce any crisp, passing football.
Chances were limited, with Josh Simpson heading Kevin Muscat's 15th-minute cross over from six yards and Alan Dunne firing a left-footer just wide on 21 minutes for Millwall, whilst Gills' Darius Henderson blazed over from a tight angle just before the break.
Thankfully the second half was an improvement on the first, and The Lions began to ask questions of the home defence.
Scott Dobie and Danny Dichio did well to work an opening after 52 minutes which unfortunately came to nothing, whilst Dave Livermore's curling effort four minutes later was headed off the line.
At the other end Muscat nearly put through his own net 16 minutes from time when he appeared to get the ball stuck under his foot from Nicky Southall's cross, and in trying to clear the danger proceeded to thump it against his own post and away for a corner.
Keeper Andy Marshall, who spent a spell on loan at Priestfield some eight years ago, came to Millwall's rescue with five minutes remaining, bravely smothering the danger from Michael Flynn's shot.
Just to add to The Lions' frustrations, Alan Dunne and Dave Livermore - two of six players booked in the match - will now be suspended for Millwall's trip to Brighton in a fortnight.
