Millwall picked up their first away point of the campaign with a battling draw at Northampton.
In a dreary encounter, The Lions just about did enough in the second-half to deserve an awayday win, but were frustrated by a resolute home rearguard.
Boss Kenny Jackett was dealt a blow when striker Tresor Kandol was ruled out after after sustaining a thigh injury whilst away on international duty with Congo.
Neil Harris and Gary Alexander started in a two-pronged Lions attack, with Tony Craig switching from left-back to an unaccustomed central midfield role alongside Marc Laird.
In a bitty first-half neither side really got into their attacking stride and there was a distinct lack of creativity with much of the play bogged down in midfield.
Millwall's cause wasn't helped either by a hamstring injury to Laird, who hobbled off in some discomfort after over-stretching in a challenge on Giles Coke after just 20 minutes.
Scoring chances were few and far between throughout, with the lively Coke sending a rasping drive over the bar and Luke Guttridge firing a low angled shot wide of the mark.
At the other end Dave Martin set off on a mazy run and he picked off four defenders before shooting straight at Cobblers' keeper Mark Bunn.
A quick free-kick from Zak Whitbread to Chris Hackett on 31 minutes saw the latter's deep cross picked up by Ahmet Brkovic, and his shot-on-the-turn fizzed narrowly wide as Jackett's men briefly threatened before the break.
Some nice work between Harris and Hackett on the right ended with Chopper's chip cleared for a corner before Brkovic volleyed wide from 12 yards from a Ryan Smith cross on 62 minutes.
The Smith-Brkovic combination nearly produced the opening goal just 60 seconds later with a well-worked free-kick, but following an almighty scramble, Cobblers' debutant Mark Little cleared the danger.
It looked increasingly likely that if Millwall were going to break the deadlock, it would be from a set-piece, and that nearly proved the case six minutes from time. Whitbread's deep free-kick was headed on by skipper Paul Robinson to Harris, but the striker's acrobatic overhead kick lacked power and was comfortably held by Bunn in the home goal.
Northampton only really came to life in the last five minutes, and twice caused anxious moments in the visiting defence.
Keeper David Forde did well to tip Little's 86th-minute teasing cross over the bar for a corner and then, in injury-time Abdul Osman's cross flew across the face of goal inches from the outstretched boot of Adebayo Akinfenwa, much to the relief of the 442 travelling Lions fans.
