Seven-up
Pru Buckley provided the inspiration with a stunning hat-trick as Millwall Lionesses handed out a 7-0 thumping to relegated Reading Royals.
With two games to go, Buckley's Lionesses are now only two points adrift of Barnet Ladies, and have the runners-up spot firmly in their sights.
Reading looked set to get off to the worst possible start after eight minutes of Sunday's clash when a Carly Eagles shot was handled in the area by Katie Salmon. However, Amy Mason's resulting spot-kick was pushed away for a corner by keeper Emily Cure.
Millwall finally made the breakthrough 10 minutes later when Olivia Davis' shot smacked the post and the ball fell to Dionne Lennon who set up Charlie Dolby to slot home the opener.
Angela Kiobel added a second goal five minutes before the interval when she stroked home a Buckley pass from an acute angle.
With The Lionesses firmly in control, player/manager Buckley made some changes at the break with Angela Kiobel, Victoria Boardman and Mason replaced by Nancy Osuji, Mamus Emosivwe and Robyn McEvoy, who was making her senior debut for the team.
Buckley bagged her first of the game - and Millwall's third - on 65 minutes when she picked up a pass from Carly Eagles, turned neatly before despatching a cheeky chip from the edge of the area that gave the home keeper no chance.
With the game out of Reading's reach, the visitors piled on the pressure and it wasn't long before substitute Osuji was put through by Buckley and finished with a flourish to make it 4-0 in Millwall's favour.
Buckley grabbed her second goal five minutes from time, driving home after Eagles had again created the opportunity.
Within seconds of the kick-off it was 6-0 as Leanne Champ won possession and sent Osuji racing clear of the home defence before nonchalantly flicking the ball over the head of the oncoming keeper Cure.
Buckley completed her hat-trick on the stroke of full time when she smashed home an unstoppable shot to put the seal on a superb all-round display.
The Lionesses play their final league home match at The Den this Sunday when they entertain a Brighton & Hove Albion side who are now safe from relegation.
Kick-Off is 2pm.
