Millwall dismantled Carlisle 3-0 today leaving a relieved Kenny Jackett free to plan for another season in League One.
After watching Jay Simpson, Neil Harris and Tony Craig do the honours, The Lions boss admitted his relief, but added he wasn't too surprised with what he saw.
Jackett said: "We played very well but I felt a win like that had been coming. We've played well in other games but not scored but we got the goals at the right time today.
We needed to back up our good football with goals and hopefully we've shown people what we can do, because passing the ball is the way I want to play.
Today was about getting the right result, which we did. I've had half an eye on next season, but that's all it ever was while we weren't safe.
Now we can plan for next season and our aim is promotion - that's easy to say but doing it is a different thing.
We need a strong start, which we haven't had here over the last couple of seasons for one reason or another. But it's a task I am looking forward to."
As to squad strengthening Jackett will soon be in a position to make definite plans, with a board meeting looming next week.
But The Lions boss would not be drawn on one particular player's future.
He added: "I thought Neil Harris played very well and showed good leadership out there, which was so important.
There is a board meeting on Monday. I don't know what my budget is yet in terms of bringing players in but it will be nice to go in to it knowing which division we're in."
