It's a big week of cup football for Scott Fitzgerald's Under 18s side, and they got off to the best possible start with a 2-0 win over Plymouth Argyle in the rearranged Youth Alliance Cup Second Round tie at Plymouth Parkway FC on Friday night.
John Marquis was on target twice as Fitz's boys ran out comfortable winners, having also had two goals disallowed. They now face Gillingham away in Round Three.
Afterwards the coach commented: "It was a bit like the Youth Cup tie at Torquay really. We were totally dominant but didn't convert our superiority into as many goals as we should have. But it was a thoroughly professional effort by the boys and it sets us up nicely for the Youth Cup tie with Barnsley on Wednesday."
Kiernan Hughes-Mason was forced to sit this game out through suspension, but he'll be back on Wednesday night, so why not come down to The Den and give the lads your support against The Tykes to see if they can reach the last 16 of that prestigious competition.
