Noel Leighton's equaliser on the stroke of half-time earned Millwall's U23s a 1-1 draw against Huddersfield Town at The Den on Monday afternoon.
The game was just 15 minutes old when Huddersfield took the lead. Jordan Williams evaded the challenge of Noah Chesmain down Millwall's left-hand side and found Olly Dyson, who swept home past Ryan Sandford at the second attempt.
Leighton almost pulled The Lions back on level terms on 28 minutes, but his deflected shot was cleared off the goal-line by the Huddersfield defence. Joe Martin, gaining game-time at centre-back, also curled a free-kick just wide of the post.
Leighton won Millwall a penalty shortly after the half-hour mark, but his spot-kick was comfortably saved by Terriers' goalkeeper Luke Coddington.
Coddington was in inspired form, also saving a header from point-blank range from Tanto Olaofe.
With half-time looming, Leighton finally got the better of his nemesis, firing low to Coddington's right to level the scores.
Olaofe could have put The Lions ahead just after the hour-mark, but squandered a headed chance from six-yards out.
Both sides huffed and puffed amidst a rainy second-half, but neither could find the winning goal.
